The University of Maryland Center for Machine Learning invites graduate students, postdocs and junior industry researchers from underrepresented groups to apply to its Rising Stars in Machine Learning program. People who identify as women, Black, Latinx, Indigenous, or living with disabilities are underrepresented in computer science and machine learning. The goal of this program is to support machine learning researchers from these underrepresented groups as they pursue new scientific discoveries and academic opportunities.
Applications for the 2024 Rising Stars in Machine Learning program closed on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
Six winners will be invited to an academic workshop at the University of Maryland on December 5–6 to present their work and engage with the machine learning research community. Each Rising Star will receive an honorarium and have their travel and lodging expense covered to attend the workshop.
This year’s program is led by Haizhao Yang, an associate professor of mathematics and member of the UMD Center for Machine Learning. For announcements and updates, signup for our email list below. Questions can be directed to ml@umiacs.umd.edu.
